Labyrinths have an ancient history dating back at least 4,000 years. While designs may vary, they typically feature a rounded shape with a single, continuous path that winds from the outer edge to the center. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has no tricks or dead ends—you don’t have to figure anything out.
Walking a labyrinth is often seen as a metaphor for the journey of life. The path offers a structured, contemplative way to quiet the mind as you move inward toward the center, then follow the same path back out. This form of walking meditation provides a unique opportunity to release the noise, fears, and doubts of daily life and reconnect with the spiritual wisdom within you.
The labyrinth at New Vision Center is a modified version of the labyrinth found in the Chartres Cathedral in France. This 7-circuit design, known as Chartres Essence, captures the spirit of the original in a simplified form.
